The Hellenic Suite | Syntetiske Flora was developed as an artistic research project during my residency at the Danish Institute in Athens.
The aim was to explore the limits of authorship and creativity in the digital age through AI-generated images inspired by collections from museums, artifacts, and archaeological sites in Athens.

A series of small plants were collected in situ, growing in the tiny gaps between the stones of the city's archaeological remains, as if their desire were to become part of the architecture—architecture which, paradoxically, had originally drawn from vegetal references for its ornamental appearance.

I painted these small plants at a 1:1 scale using the trompe-l'œil technique, as a poetic way of documenting and recording them through painting.

With the help of AI, those same plants were transformed into ornamental friezes carved in stone. The uniqueness of this method lies in its ability to create personalized ornamentation—essentially botanical portraits in stone. This singularity justified presenting them as diptychs: painting the original plant and its architectural “echo.”

The project The Hellenic Suite / Syntetiske Flora combines archaeology, technology, and painting to reflect on the dialogue between nature, art, and architecture.
